Walpole MA Roofing & Skylight Install
I Can See Clearly Now… A Skylight Project Creates a Whole New World of Vision
1. The Challenge
A phone call to O’LYN Roofing was the beginning of a new world of vision for the Markatos family. Taso Markatos, of Walpole Massachusetts, has a home with 14 skylights. The home is situated in a picturesque area with an incredible view of nature and wildlife.
Over the past few years, Taso and his family were noticing leaks around the skylights and fogging around the glass. The frustrated home owner said, “We need to do something about this to regain the view we used to have and eliminate the leaking risk.”

- Fogging Glass
- Old Roof
- Cracked Shingles
- Stained Ceiling
3. The Meeting
Enter Mike St. Pierre, Diagnostic Team Leader of O’LYN Roofing, to assess the problems the skylights were causing. During the meeting, it became quite obvious that the roof was old and cupping. This led to Mike diagnosing the skylight problems and to investigate the roofing situation. Taso also filled Mike in on the history of the home, which was critical for Mike and O’LYN Roofing to determine the proper job scope that would alleviate the skylight and roofing issues.
4. The Solution
Mike and Taso discussed the problems uncovered and started to create the proper job scope that would fit within the budget. It was essential that job would provide a much-needed leak free roof environment and a new view for Taso and his family. After much discussion, it was decided for Mike and Taso to set up a follow-up visit. This would allow Mike to look at different scenarios that would provide the best relief Taso was looking for.
At their next appointment, Mike conveyed to Taso that there may be a way to replace the 14 skylights and associated roofing areas to stay within budget. Velux, the leading skylight provider, has a tax credit for installing solar skylights. Soon after weighing all his options, Mike and Taso determined that taking advantage of Velux’s offer would be the best solution. The home would be receiving all new solar skylights and roofing in the areas surrounding.
5. The Conclusion
As the project was coming to an end, Taso called Mike St. Pierre to explain how the crew was doing a great job. Taso and his family were able to enjoy their beautiful views again.
