Brookmeadows Country Club to host golf outing to benefit cancer research and family assistance in honor of long time O’LYN employee Tom Olen. Highlights of the event will include a hole-in-one contest for a brand new car and ultra-premium cigars hand rolled on site.
On Thursday, September 26, 2013, O’LYN Contractors will be presenting the first annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing, with the hope that everyone who has known or worked with Tom Olen can be there to celebrate. Tom, brother of O’LYN owner Michael Olen, passed away in October 2012 after a decades long battle with cancer. He dedicated over 30 years to the company, helping make it what it is today. “Everywhere we look at O’LYN, we still see Tommy.”, says Karen Marshall, who began working at the company around the same time as Tom.
It took a little while, but O’LYN found some way to honor Tom’s contribution to the company and his memory by creating the Tom Olen Memorial Fund. The fund is dedicated to cancer research and supporting families in their fight against it. This golf outing is their inaugural effort to raise donations towards a battle that Tom’s friends and family will continue to fight in his name.
The event’s biggest supporter has been Central Auto Group, supplying a brand new car for a Hole-In-One contest, as well as golf foursomes and numerous auction items. Peter Catanese, the company’s president, has successfully run the Christopher Catanese Children’s Foundation for many years and his input and experience has proved invaluable for the golf outing. Other highlights of the event being hosted by beautiful Brookmeadow Country Club, located at 100 Everendon Rd Canton, MA, are a New England Clam Bake dinner and ultra-premium cigars from Martinez Cigars of New York City hand rolled on site.
