O’LYN Roofing held it’s 6th Annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing on June 14th, 2018. Over $10,000 was raised in funds and will go directly to beneficiaries of the Tom Olen Memorial Fund.

NORWOOD, MA- O’LYN Roofing held it’s 6th Annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing on June 14th, 2018 at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton.
The event was started in 2013 to honor Tom Olens’ legacy. Tom Olen was a long-time employee and friend of O’LYN who passed away from cancer in 2010.
The outing included a full day of golf, a Steak-Tip Dinner, and a raffle. This year, 70 golfers and 110 dinner attendees participated in the event. The tournament also saw Castle Island Brewing Co., from Norwood, MA as a special guest to offer up free beer samples.
“Our team always looks forward to this event. I’m always so proud of how we’re able to join forces to make it better and better each year.”, said Linda Olen, President of O’LYN Roofing and sister-in-law to Tom Olen.
With all contributions from sponsors and players, the tournament was able to raise over $10,000 in funds that will go directly to beneficiaries of the Tom Olen Memorial Fund. One such recipient is the 2018 Tom Olen Memorial Scholarship winner, Kelly Fagan, from Canton, MA. Kelly has been battling with Stage Four Neuroblastoma up and through her high school career. She will be attending Bryant University in the fall to pursue a degree in business, where she hopes to make a positive impact on the world while maybe even becoming the “youngest millionaire business women.”
The rest of the proceeds from the golf outing will be donated to cancer research organizations and financially assisting families struggling with cancer or persons in need of organ transplants.
Six Years Running
The inaugural kick-off for funding began with the Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing held at the Brookmeadow Country Club in September of 2013. Through the years, corporate sponsorships, many friends, family, community members and O’LYN employees attended to help raise over $90,000. Disbursements for the Fund to date include; Paint Her Pink Foundation, Promise For Purple, We Love Jesse, Make-A-Wish/Long Beach Polar Bears, The Furbush Children’s Fund and the $5,000 annual for scholarship for a student whose family has been affected by cancer and/or organ transplants.
