Orlando, FL—O’LYN Roofing attended the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Orlando from February 18th to 21st. The IRE brings together all segments of the roofing industry, with a theme this year of “Reaching New Horizons in Roofing.” While there are many roofing conferences around the country, the International Roofing Expo is recognized as one of the largest events and is attended by the top roofing companies from around the world. The workshops spotlighted experts in their fields, and the conference hall featured new products, techniques, and tools.
There were 44 sessions along with 8 different tracks at this year’s Expo, including Workplace Safety, Leadership and Management, and Green Building. This year it hosted 462 companies and 1,206 booths, providing an opportunity for roofing industry leaders to connect, learn, and grow together—face-to-face. Beyond roofing, the IRE featured a Keynote Address delivered by Dr. Beck Weathers, a survivor of the 1996 Mt. Everest tragedy. Weathers spoke about his experience with heroism and overcoming extreme tribulations. Jon Krakauer, author of Into Thin Air and fellow survivor, also spoke at the event.
O’LYN Roofing founder and owner, Michael Olen, recognizes the IRE as a chance to collaborate with other leaders in the roofing industry. Further, Olen sees the Expo as an investment in O’LYN Roofing’s upcoming leaders. At the Expo, leaders in the company shared and learned with their peers, attended workshops to hone their management skills, and expanded upon their roofing knowledge to better serve their customers. O’LYN brings their management team because, “we believe continual education is essential to the company’s continued success and quality service. When you trust your company leadership, you make investments in them. Coming to the IRE is an example of that. There’s a whole world of knowledge here,” said Olen.
Wanting to take full advantage of the conference, Michael Olen spent the weekend looking to further enhance O’LYN Roofing’s operations and offerings. An annual IRE attendee, Olen believes the event consistently teaches him how to provide the best service and results for O’LYN’s customers. With that mindset, Olen said he looks forward to implementing all he learned at the Expo this year and to attending again next year.
