At O’LYN Roofing, we’re big proponents of cellulose attic insulation. The benefits of cellulose insulation over other materials include:
- High thermal performance
- Resistant to fire, mold, mildew, insects and vermin
- Environmentally friendly
Here are a few more details about the points above:
1. Great thermal performance: Cellulose insulation is a fantastic insulator because it is able to prevent all types of heat loss (radient, conductive, and convective). Many other materials, including fiberglass insulation don’t prevent convective heat loss. In addition, cellulose is excellent at fitting around corners and pipes, leaving fewer tiny air pockets from which heat can escape.
2. Fire and mold resistant: When insulating your attic, it’s important that the insulation is fire, mold and mildew resistent and that it repels insects, mice and other vermin. Cellulose insulation is typically treated with borates which provide protection from mold, mildew and insects.
3. Environmentally friendly: Cellulose insulation is one of the most environmentally friendly insulation products you can buy. It is produced using clean recycled paper and cardboard that is then processed back to a fibrous state and then treated for mold and mildew resistance. It’s environmentally friendly attributes have even been touted in the New York Times Green Blog.
At O’LYN Roofing, we install National Fiber cellulose insulation due to its high quality and environmental attributes.
