NORWOOD, MA – On June 14th, 2018 O’LYN Roofing will be hosting the Sixth Annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing at Brookmeadow Country Club. The event was started in 2013 to honor the memory of Tom Olen, long-time employee and friend of O’LYN who passed away from cancer in 2010. All of the proceeds are used to support cancer research organizations and financially assist families struggling with cancer or persons in need of organ transplants.
Central Auto Team of Norwood, a local car dealership that has been serving the Greater Boston metropolitan area for decades, will sponsor the event again this year. Peter Catanese, owner of Central Auto Team, says his company is excited to support a cause that affects so many people in the community. Central Auto Team has been designated a “Tommy’s Friend” sponsor since they are one of the main sponsors of the event this year.
The Central Auto Team supports a variety of local causes, including the House of Possibilities in Easton and the Norwood Circle of Hope’s “Dancing with the Norwood Stars” Fundraiser. “We love our community and we love our state” is stated on their website, and they are dedicated to giving back in meaningful ways, especially to their community.
The Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing will take place at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton again this year. The event will include a day on the links, a Steak Tip Dinner, and a raffle, as well as a few golf competitions throughout the day. Players can sign up individually or in foursomes, and individuals can sign up exclusively for the dinner and raffle.
The Tom Olen Memorial Fund strives to make a personal connection with cancer patients and transplant recipients and their families in order to assist them in the ways they feel are most important, whether it be financial assistance or funding research and awareness initiatives. In addition to supporting various cancer-focused foundations, it offers a $5,000 scholarship to a local student affected by cancer.
“The Golf Outing is a great event every year,” said Michael Olen, founder of the Tom Olen Memorial Fund, “and we’re thankful for Central Auto Team’s generosity. We hope more in our community will come out and support this cause that is so dear to our hearts here at O’LYN.”
